Because

Because we were building a house
Because I was super so super busy
Because I rather spend time finishing a house so I can move into it than writing another blog
Because there aren't many people that actually read my blog
Because then we finished and instead of posting photos online of the finished house inside, I felt akward about sharing it with the world...
Because we didn't have internet at our house for... oh... wait... we still kind of don't
Because I started a full time job outside of the home the same weekend we moved into our house
Because I am not doing as many photo jobs and even if I was I don't care to show and display them like I used to....

is why I haven't blogged.

So why am I writing this blog?

Because my husband misses me sharing on my blog..... ummm he lives with me.... but whatever
Because, honestly, I think I'm tired of technology and everyone knowing everything because they are my friend of Facebook er whatever. Thus I think I will be going through my "friends" and doing some editing
Because sometimes I have a slight urge to post... don't get your hopes up that this will become an actual regular thing.

So you wanna see my house finished? You wanna see how I decorated it? You wanna see how awesome my husband is at decorating since I actually haven't cared to decorate but only a little... hey its finished and painted.... woo hoo!

Well tough. Text me and I'll send you some pics or call me and come by. Sorry internet, random people I don't know, and gaukers. You ain't infringing upon my life that much.

Mother's Day

Today is MOTHER'S DAY! A day specifically set aside for children to honor their mom's and all they have done! I really appreciate everything my mom has done and provided for me and my sister and now our husbands too! She's such a helper and a giver, especially since I know she doesn't always want to be. I love that she loves to read and I'm so grateful that she has passed that desire down to me! She is organized and make pretty much anything from whatever you bring her in a box! She can find treasures anywhere and can make you laugh!

She can make bridesmaids dresses in her sleep and can roof a house! She's not afraid to get her hands dirty and catch a fish or play dress up no matter how old we all get. She's got more facial expressions than I can count including: funny smile, sweet smile, fake smile, "the look," the I'm gonna laugh cuz this is so awkward face... and many more!

We love you mom! All four of us! Have a great day!

Butterflies Like Bananas

This past Monday was a lovely day for butterflies! The sun was shining, the breeze was subtle, beautiful! About a week or a few days earlier, I had set some past due bananas out in a pot saucer to see what little creature would find the feast! Believe it or not, it was butterflies! They swarmed that thing and covered it so it looked like fur! Who knew butterflies liked bananas!

But they also really appreciate beautiful peonies, making it really easy to get a good shot of them with the gorgeous flower!

But butterflies weren't the only bugs checking out the luscious petals! I found this little guy crawling as deep as he could to get that yummy pollen!

Then a few days later I found this little guy on the front porch! And then saw that he was not alone! Only like 15 of these caterpillars all over my mother-in-law's pansies! Now, if pansies weren't fixing to die off from the Oklahoma summer heat, it would have been wise to pick them off, as they are rather fond of late blooming pansies.

This caterpillar is called the "Variegated Fritillary Caterpillar" that turns into the, well, "Variegated Fritillary Butterfly" and you can see more about them HERE! Their cocoon is AWESOME!
It's been great fun finding all the critters coming out to play!

The House - Our Alien Spaceship Abode

It's miller time! As my husband's father would have said! Yeah those are three moths grouped together in the morning air.

So we have the soffits and facia painted and now it's time to get this puppy dried in!

First, we shingle. You put your drip edge on and then your tar paper, or the modern version called permafelt, and then your shingle of choice! :D

Thank you to all the wonderful help we had during the shingling! On top of our usually awesome help of my dad and Grandpa, my mom, Greg, Mike, Tim, and Dakota helped out! Thanks guys so much!

One day in the middle of roofing, it was a bit wet and slick to be walking around on the roof, so we took the opportunity to cut out the bottom plates in the door ways! Also, there were still just a few spots that lacked some sheeting on the side so we got that finished up!

As you can see in the photos below, Jacob and I spent a few random hours here and there to get the permafelt down, one less step on shingle day.

On this lovely day where you can see me walking from the house, the winds were crazy! We got everything done except for the porch but stopped on lack of shingles and because the weather was getting out of hand! On this day, we got rain, hail, high winds, and tornado warning.... the night of this day awoke many in terror as they realized the home around them was gone. You can see some of the damage from the tornado that hit in the middle of the night HERE. Jacob and were incredibly blessed to not have our hard work busted and more incredibly blessed that our family was all safe!

As you will see below, it was time to start the house wrap! We chose a product called double bubble, and as you can see in a few photos, its actually a double layer of buble wrap looking material with a reflective side on one side! You just use your cap nail's to put it on!

When putting the double bubble on, we just went over the windows and and then went back and cut the opening back out! Then we folded the extra over the side, nailed that down and installed the windows!

Windows were a very exciting step! YAY!!!

Only took us about 3 hours to put all but one of the 11 windows in! I would go in front and cut out the double bubble and nail the edges in and grandpa and Jacob would follow behind and install the window.  The last and largest window went in a different day when my parents could help us put it in since it was so large!

Now it's time to finish that porch! Didn't take old pros, Grandpa and Jacob long though!

Wow! Look at that! We are building a trailer, no, a boat, no, an ice box, no it's an alien spaceship! Haha!

The plumbers and electricians are supposed to do their thing starting next week and we still need to put the doors in and I need to do some touch up painting and caulking and then we will be ready for the brick!

It's so relieving to see a dry house inside when it rains!
